Burgweg successful at Falstaff Weissburgunder Trophy
It is a great confirmation for our winery that, in addition to our Spätburgunder Glockenspiel Réserve, our 2018 Weissburgunder Burgweg can now also be pleased to receive 92 points from the pleasure magazine Falstaff.
Our top wines are produced by us with great care and handwork. In addition to our 2016 Spätburgunder Glockenspiel Réserve, which was recently awarded 92+ points, we are pleased to receive 92 points from the pleasure magazine Falstaff for our 2018 Weissburgunder Burgweg.
As part of the Weissburgunder Trophy, Ulrich Sautter, editor-in-chief of wine, tasted our top Pinot Blanc and wrote the following:
“A light golden yellow in color. An intense scent of ripe peach, brioche, lemon peel and young hazelnut. On the palate, raw almonds, ripe hazelnuts and vineyard peaches. The good acidity balances ripe fruit and creaminess. Enjoy now. ”
Protected by an old quarry, Burgweg is a prime location with a unique microclimate. On almost four hectares at medium altitude, so to speak on the filet piece, Riesling and Pinot Noir also grow in addition to Pinot Blanc. Due to its wind-open altitude, the heat-storing and massively limestone soil, there are excellent growing conditions for the vines here. When harvested, the grapes are carefully harvested by hand and in several rounds. Our Pinot Blanc Burgweg gets the creaminess and intense aroma described above thanks to eight hours of maceration and aging in barrique barrels.
